Le Soi Mobile 2018 - Artist’s residency
Through its Residencies program, the Conseil des arts de Montréal is joining forces with the Laboratoire des récits du soi mobile (LRSM - Université de Montréal / www.lrsm.ca) to offer a residency to a professional artist familiar with interactive writing in the field of literature, film/video or digital arts. The residency will take place within the borough of Saint-Laurent in the summer of 2018. Using the LRSM van, the artist-in-residence will travel throughout the borough mapping its features and realities. With the help of the Lab’s audiovisual equipment, the artist will then give form and substance to the neighbourhoods in a unique work environment. The design project Catalyseur d’imaginaires urbains (CIU) will serve as the linchpin of the residency. This new space, supported by the Ville de Montréal and the Université de Montréal, serves as a place for gatherings, reflections and urban renewal. Located at the corner of Durocher and Atlantic, it lies near the university’s future MIL Campus, a scientific innovation complex. 1- OBJECTIVES OF THE RESIDENCY The purpose of this residency program is to make a research and creation laboratory available to a professional artist familiar with interactive writing. Its objectives are:
- 1. to support a process of research and creation fuelled by the stories of the
borough’s cultural communities;
- 2. to provide a professional artist with a mobile space for research and creation in
the form of the LRSM van;
- 3. to contribute to activities at the design space Catalyseur d’imaginaires urbains
(e.g. conference, presentation on a phase of the project, exploration, etc.). 2- DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENCY The residency is for a maximum period of four (4) months, between mid-June and September 2018 (with a commitment to be present for a minimum of 20 days).
