This project involves redesigning a kitchen scale and package. An existing kitchen scale should be chosen and looked at to find how it can be improved while still staying within the brand's

• aesthetic. The focus for this project is on the design and ouher

variables can be neglected such as price. The group should come up with 3 different concepts for the redesign and choose

• ne to make into the final product.

• 2. ANALYSIS

The analysis involved looking at the marked and finding

• ut what kind of improvements people wanted for their

kitchen scales. The research came back with wishes for accuracy, correct units, low price, cleanliness, durability and the tear option, but lacked the innovation for some new idés. Most of these requirements are already found in typical scales available today, so the need to find something to make our product more valuable remained. The target group for the product became the home baker so the product must also be easy to stow away in a cabinet or a drawer.

• 3. CONCEPT

The initial idé was to create a product, making the baking easier for the everyday person. A product that does nou take a lou of space, is practical and simple to use. When baking, the measurement of your grandma's old recipe, or the advanced interesting recipe online, might nou all follow the same units of measure. Some might have grams, some might have liters, or some might use ibs. Instead of having all the various tools for all the different units, the new design of this innovative scale are a combination of all! The concept is to have a scale and measuring cup as one.

• 4. FINAL PRODUCT

The final product connects the scale and cup using magnets so the cup stays in place on top of the scale when measuring. The magnets are strong enough to keep the two parts together during rough use, but a simple rouation movement of the cup is enough to disconnect

• them. Since the scale are removable and the cup is

dishwasher safe, it can be easily cleaned and the sleek lines of the scale make it easy to wipe of any spilling. This multi measurer makes it easy to measure bouh grams/lb and liters in the same cup, making baking easier for the typical home baker.

• 5. COMPANY

The design for our product are inspired by the brand BrAun. The BrAun company was founded in 1928 by the German mechanical engineer Max Braun. After the end of the first world war and his work with producing components for radio sets , Braun entered the household appliances market, expanding his collection with new products aiming to make the everyday easier. In 1950 the company introduced their first kitchen supply product to their product line range. Nowadays the BrAun brand offers a wide range of everyday products, reaching from razors to irons to coffee makers and

• toothbrushes. Working with other brands like Gillette and

keeping good quality and design in focus, the brand continues to improve and help making everyday easier.
