How the GED program works

  • The students comes in fills out paperwork and I assess where they

are in their knowledge and skill levels.

  • If they need to build reading skills I must start there, if the students

reading skills are good, I must check their math and writing skills.

  • Then we must work on the subject areas of Science, Social Studies,

Language Arts, and Math as well as work on writing responses for those areas.

  • The student also needs sufficient computer and testing skills to pass

How you can help the GED program?

  • We need money to pay the teacher’s salary who also provides

transportation to students if needed to get to class.

  • We can pretest the students for $6 for each subject area to

determine student readiness for the actual test.

  • Most students do not have the funds for testing which are about

$40 per test and there are 4 subject area tests.

  • We are looking for 2,500 – 3,000 to fund this semester to pay for

pretest fees, testing fees, GED books & materials and the teacher.

  • You can sponsor a student or students and hopefully

employ them after the student gets their GED.
