  1. GED Class in Pawnee WHAT IT IS, WHAT WE DO, AND WHY WE NEED HELP!

  2. GED - STANDS FOR GENERAL EDUCATION DEGREE • Obtaining a GED is the first step in furthering g educat cation for or a a student nt who ho did no not fini nish hi high h scho hool. If a student wants to enter a certificate program or go to college getting a GED is required in order to be accepted into a program, which in turn has the potential to lead to greater financial earnings. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, those who have a GED or high school diploma, can expect to earn more per year than those without it.

  3. GED CLASS IN PAWNEE Bacone had been funding GED by giving Pawnee Nation College money for Adult Ed until Bacone had funding issues so we are now seeking other funding sources.

  4. How the GED program works  The students comes in fills out paperwork and I assess where they are in their knowledge and skill levels.  If they need to build reading skills I must start there, if the students reading skills are good, I must check their math and writing skills.  Then we must work on the subject areas of Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Math as well as work on writing responses for those areas.  The student also needs sufficient computer and testing skills to pass

  5. How you can help the GED program?  We need money to pay the teacher’s salary who also provides transportation to students if needed to get to class.  We can pretest the students for $6 for each subject area to determine student readiness for the actual test.  Most students do not have the funds for testing which are about $40 per test and there are 4 subject area tests.  We are looking for 2,500 – 3,000 to fund this semester to pay for pretest fees, testing fees, GED books & materials and the teacher.

  6. What can I do to promote the GED program?  You can donate an item for a silent auction or raffle.  You can help sponsor a fundraising event.  You can give directly to 3 Cedars for the GED program.  You can sponsor a student or students and hopefully employ them after the student gets their GED.  For the donation you make to 3 Cedars you can receive a donation letter tax write off because 3 Cedars is a 501c3 Non-Profit
