Group Dis iscussion

We are going to give you some different scenarios that sometimes come up with potential BFET clients. After each scenario, please talk with your table. After a minute or so of discussion, we’ll solicit answers from the audience. Participation will be rewarded with gold coins and freshly minted money.

Scenario #1

I’m a student in the nursing AAS-T program. I have food assistance with DSHS. However, I have a financial aid award that is already covering my tuitions, fees and

  • books. Why would I want to enroll in BFET?
slide-11
SLIDE 11

Scenario #2

I have a lot going on in my life right now, so I can only take one 5-credit class. Can I still use BFET funding to pay for this class?

slide-12

Scenario #3

I got really sick last quarter and had to withdraw from my classes halfway through. Now, the Financial Aid office has put a block on my student account because I need to repay part of my financial aid award. I can’t repay right now, but I want to continue classes. Can BFET still help me?

slide-13

Scenario #4

I’m only one quarter away from graduating. However, I just received an eviction notice and I’m unable to pay my

  • rent. Is there any way my BFET advisor can help me?
slide-14

Scenario #5

I graduated two years ago with a bachelor’s degree. However, I haven’t been able to find work since I

  • graduated. I think I need to go back to school to get

more professional training, but I’m only eligible for loans through Financial Aid. I don’t want more student debt. I have basic food assistance, so am I eligible for your college BFET program?
