SLIDE 12 What Is Parkinson’s Parkinson’s is a progressive, neurological condition caused by the lack of the chemical dopamine in the brain. There are many symptoms such as tremor, rigidity and slowness of movement. The cause is unknown, and as yet there is no cure. The condition isn’t life threatening and symptoms do get worse but can be controlled using drug therapy treatment’s. The Facts ■ 1 in 500 people in the UK has Parkinson’s ■ Approximately 800 of those live in the Peterborough area ■ People of any age can be affected by Parkinson’s and no two people will experience the same symptoms ■ Good management of the condition is essential. Timing of medication is vital as well as leading a healthy lifestyle ■ Exercise and keeping fit are a key factor in slowing down the progression of Parkinson’s Events Fundraising Our Peterborough Branch is self funded and
  • ur Fundraising helps raise money to fund
Classes, Events, Outings & Coffee Morning’s for our Members. Each year we also donate money to Parkinson’s UK to help fund vital research work. Stressed? In pain? Lonely? In need of more laughter and light in your life? Laughter Yoga can help your body, mind & spirit FEEL GOOD

Founded by Dr Madan Kataria, and beginning with just five people, in a Mumbai Park in 1995, Laughter Yoga is a fun and unique “wellbeing” practice, combining deep yogic breathing (Pranayama), stretching and laughter exercises that cultivate childlike playfulness, resulting in unconditional and spontaneous laughter. There are now thousands of Laughter Clubs in more than 100 countries!

LAUGHTER YOGA – HOHOHO! HAHAHA

What is Laughter Yoga?

slide-61
SLIDE 61

Well, L-A-U-G-H-T-E-R speaks for itself:

Laughter releases endorphins (feel good hormones and the body’s natural painkillers) Acts as aerobic exercise, increasing oxygen flow to the brain and the rest of the body, which

increases energy and improves health

Unleashes inhibitions, building confidence and easing anxiety and fear Great team building tool, connecting people at heart level, without judgement Helps to reduce stress and strengthen our immune system Tones the muscles of the abdomen, shoulders and diaphragm Encourages positive thinking and builds resilience Relaxes the whole body

Just 10 to 15 minutes of daily practice will begin to reap the health benefits of laughter! Very good, very good, YAY!!!

What are the benefits of laughter Yoga
