DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING Spatial Planning Parameters for Defining Planning Areas • Limit number of planning areas to manageable number • Identify planning areas to contain concentrations of students  Neighborhoods  Subdivisions  Apartment complexes • Use parcel and street centerlines as boundaries • Keep planning areas contiguous • Define planning areas within existing attendance areas • Where possible, define planning areas within intersections of major arterial roads, highways, creeks, and fenced-in structures (i.e., planning area boundaries do not cross these types of roads, hydrographic features, and other cultural features)
