THE JUDGING PROCESS

9 Procedures 10 10 9 9 8 7 5 3 2 To eliminate prejudice we always have an odd number of judges, usually 9 and each competitor will lose their top 2 and bottom 2 scores. This will ensure that the fairest possible result is given. Generally if more than 2 Judges have you first

  • r last, you probably are. The process can be done with 7 Judges therefore losing

1 top and bottom score or ultimately with 5 where every score will count.

CLASS CRITERIA: BODYBUILDING (MEN’S AND WOMEN’S)

19 CRITERIA

Bodybuilding athletes will be judged as an overall package, considering the factors: shape, symmetry, balance, muscularity, and conditioning. Neither one of these factors is more important than the other. Exceptional physiques with developed, full and shapely muscle bellies while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing physique. ** DISTENTION of ABDOMINALS, GYNECOMASTIA and other associated flaws will be penalised. Round 2 Muscularity Size, condition of the Physique, vascularity and separation of the Muscles. Round 3 Comparisons Study of all factors at great depth to reach the correct decision Round 1 Symmetry Basic outline, proportion between muscles, symmetry from left to right and top to bottom.

CLASS CRITERIA: BODYBUILDING COMPARISONS

21 CRITERIA

Examine the totality of the body in each pose. This front semi relaxed pose demonstrates: symmetry, balance and proportion. Balance of upper and lower body is paramount. Look at the similarities between the

  • physiques. Dimensionally they are very

similar but aesthetically they are quite

  • different. Recognising these

differences quickly is the mark of a good judge.

slide-24
SLIDE 24

WABBA INTERNATIONAL

CLASS CRITERIA: BODYBUILDING COMPARISONS

22 CRITERIA

Judging is the sum total of the pose. A judge must look at each muscle to determine the winner of the pose. As you see in the picture both athletes have great conditioning and muscle size. The difference is found in the projection of the pose of the athlete on the left. He also has a < waist and joints which make his muscle “pop” when flexed. It’s the illusion

  • f size and symmetry for this athlete.
slide-25
SLIDE 25

WABBA INTERNATIONAL

CLASS CRITERIA: BODYBUILDING COMPARISON

23 CRITERIA

Examine the totality of the body in each pose. This front double bicep pose is your opportunity to assess symmetry, balance, conditioning and

  • muscularity. Balance of upper and

lower body is paramount. Look at the bicep size compare it to the calf and neck as a guide to the athletes balance.

slide-26
SLIDE 26

WABBA INTERNATIONAL

CLASS CRITERIA: CLASSIC BODYBUILDING The height to weight ratio that is applied means that the athletes are of a similar size which puts the emphasis on the “classic” physique that is balanced, conditioned, and aesthetic, while maintaining proportion without being overly muscular. Besides the ratio the classic class is judged exactly the same as Men’s Bodybuilding.

24 CRITERIA

WABBA INTERNATIONAL

CLASS CRITERIA: MEN’S FITNESS AND PHYSIQUE

25 CRITERIA These categories differ from Men Model because athletes display a more muscular physique with more definition but structural elegance and body proportions still play a major role.

Elegance and structural symmetry, lack of structural defects. Proportions between upper and lower body and display of a V-Shaped physique. 3. MUSCULARITY 30% Athletes must display low bodyfat, proportion in the development of the muscle groups but an excessive definition is not requisite. 4. POISE 10% of the total Score. 51 CRITERIA

CLASS CRITERIA: ADAPTIVE: AMBULANT / WHEELCHAIR

52 CRITERIA

Point system There would be a point system to compensate the athlete according to his degree of disability. 9 point will be awarded to an athlete with a disability below 33%. 6 point will be awarded to an athlete with a 33-50% disability 4 points will be awarded to an athlete with a 51-65% disability. 2 points will be awarded to an athlete with a disability above 65%. Every competitor must present a certificate establishing his/her degree of disability (%), issued by the proper authorities. Disabled bodybuilders will be judged like any other class, but the point system will be applied to place the final winners. The disability percentage is calculated as follows: When there is one injury, the degree of disability will be the disability percentage of that injury. For example: If a 40% degree of disability was established for one injury, that person’s degree of disability will be 40%.

slide-55
SLIDE 55

WABBA INTERNATIONAL

CLASS CRITERIA: ADAPTIVE: AMBULANT / WHEELCHAIR

53 CRITERIA

When there are several injuries, each of which has a separate degree of disability, the injuries are weighted. For example: If there are two injuries, the first at 60% and the second at 30%, the first injury will be ranked as 60% and the second will be ranked as 12% - which is 30% of the remaining 40%. Thus, the overall disability percentage will be 72%. When two or more injuries relate to pairs of limbs (two arms or two legs), the medical committee may add together the disability percentages for these limbs. For example: a 40% disability in one arm and a 30% disability in the other will be equal to an overall 70% degree of disability. However, the final degree of disability cannot exceed 100%. For example, a 40% disability in one leg and a 70% disability in the

  • ther equals an overall 100% degree of disability (and not

110%).

CLASS CRITERIA: MIXED COUPLES

54 CRITERIA

The Mixed Pairs Category is a platform for athletes to compete as couples and display their physiques together

  • n stage.

The category includes 3 rounds. The pair must work together to compliment each other, and compete as ‘one’ through the rounds of competition; Symmetry Round, Compulsory Poses, Posing Routine Stage Presentation is of utmost importance, with matched posing costumes and tanning. A good pair presentation can impress the Judges on their strength of being able to move, blend and work together as one unit. The mixed pairs category is judged equally between physique and presentation . The category is not limited to bodybuilding competitors, figure - fitness - model - athletic athletes are welcome but special consideration needs to be taken to the posing styles.

CLASS CRITERIA: MIXED COUPLES

55 CRITERIA

The athlete’s physiques must compliment each other. 3. MUSCULARITY 20% of the total Score. The athlete must show a low bodyfat percentage, right proportions in the development of upper and lower body, round muscles and an overall athletic appearance. Abs must be slightly visible with no vascularity and excessive definition is not allowed. 4. Symmetry 20% of the total Score. Elegance and structural symmetry, lack of structural defects. Proportions between upper and lower body.
