Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam (UDWPE) (UDWPE)

  • Must be attempted prior to earning 75 units
  • Pass before enrolling in 400-level major courses
  • Typically a registration hold is placed if not attempted

Repeat Policy Repeat Policy

  • Grade Forgiveness:
  • Higher grade replaces lower grade in GPA calculation
  • May repeat if earned a “C-” or lower grade
  • Eligible to repeat a maximum of 16 units for grade forgiveness (after 16

units grades are averaged)

  • Only applies to courses initially taken and then repeated at CSUN
  • Must pass major courses within two enrollment attempts
  • Special permission is required to attempt a class for the 3rd time and is not

always permitted.

  • If not approved, then the student must change their major.
