Alternative pathways for Uni • Foundation courses are offered by each Uni (for some courses) • TAFE/VET studies at Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma (linked courses) • STAT (see indiv. Institutions for age rules) • Flinders Uni – UniTest ( free ) • Higher education pathway o eg UniSA College

Course admission requirements Non-competitive Certificates I, II & III – no Course admission requirements Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma, and competitive Certs I, II & III – Certificate III completion TABS (literacy and numeracy test conducted by TAFE SA) SACE results (calculation from the best 3 TAS scores) You may also be required to submit a portfolio, a written assessment, or attend an audition as part of the selection process

  7. How to apply for Uni and TAFE South Australian Tertiary Admission Centre (SATAC) controls application processing. For applications interstate there are similar bodies ie QTAC, VTAC, UAC Applications open on 3 rd August www.satac.edu.au

Key dates for University applications • 3 rd August 2015 – SATAC open for 2016 applications • 30 th September 2015 – early closing date for most undergraduate applications (check specific course deadlines) • Late fees apply after this date • 31 st October 2015 – closing date for STAT sittings (late fees apply after this date) • 30 th November 2015 – equal consideration closing date for most undergraduate courses • 4 th January 2016 – change of preference deadline • 19 th January 2016 – Main offer round (additional offer rounds are made regularly after this date)

  9. SATAC Website Use the SATAC website www.satac.edu.au or the SATAC guide to check for: • Pre-requisites • Assumed knowledge* • Additional program specific entry requirements

Applications are completed online You will need your SACE registration number, and a current email address (not your school one) Check each step carefully Record your SATAC number once you have completed a full application You must pay the $28 University application fee or your application will not be considered TAFE SA applications are free and will open August 31 st

Preferences • Up to 6 preferences can be listed – maximize this! • List the course you would most like to study first, followed by other options • SATAC will make an offer to the highest preference you are eligible for • Consider including a Foundation course or other Pathways course as your final option • Preferences can be changed up until 4 th January for most courses

  12. Remember to pay the SATAC fee!

  13. What about a gap year? • Strongly recommend still applying for a Uni course & deferring. • Check that you can defer the course you are interested in. • TAFE do not allow you to defer an offer to a course.

A note on bonus points New Universities Equity scheme (5 points) Schools assessed for eligibility based on: • School remoteness & participation rate • Mean ATAR achieved • Community Socio-Educational Advantage Individual students may still be eligible: • School card or Health Care Card holder • Centrelink means-tested income support payment

  17. Bonus points (cont) SA Language, Literacy and Mathematics Bonus Scheme ( not for Medicine or Vet Bioscience) Two points, up to a total maximum of four points • LOTE • English Studies or English Communications • Math Studies • Specialist Maths
