Harp & Bowl In a Corporate Setting
To extravagantly pursue God
¨ He found a dwelling place for God
LORD, remember David and all his afflictions; How he
swore to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One: "Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, or go up to the comfort of my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes… until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob"… Arise, O, Lord, to Your resting place. (Ps. 132:1-8)
¨ To seek the Lord with all his resources and
live in extravagant devotion to Him
¨ David received revelation of worship in God’s heavenly
sanctuary (1 Chr. 28:11-19)
¨ Revelation 4-5 describes the worship order around God’s
Throne
¨ David’s government flowed forth from prophetic worship
(1 Chr. 23-25)
¨ David put Levites before the Ark (which spoke of God’s
Throne and Presence) to worship God
¨ David established 4,000 full-time paid musicians, 288
singers, and 4,000 gatekeepers in the Temple for worship
¨ David commanded God’s people to honor the
heavenly order of worship that he received by revelation because it was God’s command (2 Chr. 29:25; 35:4, 15; Ezra 3:10; Neh. 12:45)
¨ David provided financial support so that singers
could sing as a full-time occupation
¨ God’s order for supporting the singers and
gatekeepers was revealed to David
¨ David gave over $100 billion (according to today’s
prices) to God’s House from his personal finances.
Simon (Peter) declared how God…visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. With this the words of the prophets agree, as it is written: “After this I will return and will rebuild the Tabernacle
and I will set it up; so that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD…” (Acts 15:14-17)
