INTRODUCTION

The Turkish Flagship Language Initiative (TURFLI), an initiative of The Language Flagship, is a program designed to increase the number of Boren Scholars and Fellows engaged in the study of Turkish. Its purpose is to meet the critical need for specialists in a range of professional fields who are able to operate at the advanced proficiency level in Turkish. NSEP currently operates the Regional Flagship Language Initiative model for African languages (French, Portuguese, and Swahili), South Asian languages (Hindi and Urdu), and Indonesian.
