SLIDE 3
Disadvantages of TRA in 4.0
n Forms attached to encounters n Nurses completed at time of clinic follow up n Needed to also update information in ottr
as information did not cross
n Functionality of bridge was complicated
and time consuming
SLIDE 4
Advantages of TRA in 5.4
n Embedded in Ottr n No longer attached to encounters n Improved workflow processes for staff n Significantly decreased software
maintenance issues
n Updates Ottr and allows direct viewing of
screens if needed while completing forms
SLIDE 5
TRA Implementation
n Installed with 5.4 upgrade in Jan 2007 n Web demo and training sessions for
– support staff – nurses – software support persons
n Emphasized the benefits and advantages
to clinical staff
SLIDE 6
Personnel Roles
n IT/Software support
– Installation – Oversight – Trouble shooting – Education and reinforcement – Contact HKS as needed
SLIDE 7
Personnel Roles
n Secretary / data person / IT
– Initiates process to download and upload forms – Receives and addresses any error reports – Manages expected forms work queue – Prompts nurses when new forms downloaded
SLIDE 8
Personnel Roles
n Nurses
– Complete forms via TRA – Each nurse accountable for their patient forms – Requires on-going education and reinforcement regarding use of proper data fields in Ottr that populate TRA – Notifies necessary personnel when forms are ready for upload
SLIDE 9
Pinnacle Implementation Process
n Started with post transplant (TRF) forms
in kidney program
n Quickly realized we had some database
cleaning to do
n Required re-education and reinforcement
- f proper use of data fields
n Currently have TCR, TRR, and TRF forms
implemented for Kidney and Pancreas programs
SLIDE 10
Things Learned
n Would implement forms in different order
– Allows info to flow forward
n Importance of identifying proper people in the
process to make it work
n Importance of establishing dedicated resources
during transition and maintenance phases
n TRA is not a plug in and walk away component –
it needs on-going support!
SLIDE 11
Advantages
n Took some time and TLC but staff really
likes TRA now!
n One-step process which updates Ottr data n Do not have to change software programs
to get information – click on links and you are there!
n First few months will be a bit rocky at
times – but worth it!
