Case Study: Waterpreneurs

02/04/2017 9

Watershops, selling water in bag in boxes, which are easily replicable and scalable Films are 100% air tide and free of virus and bacteria's. The water can be storage over a long time. FDA and BDA proved by the highest food regulation standards No entrepreneurs developing water industry The problem

  • TL dependent on imported bottled drinking

water (approx. 40 million bottles for year, 90% imported) Investment 5 Million per year /increase

  • Lack of access to financing in order to

develop new businesses

Our response

  • 35% of population without access to clean

drinking water in remote areas.

Lack of access to clean drinking water

  • Lack of trainings of the local population on

entrepreneurship and water technologies

FOCUS Quantitative & Qualitative Research: Leveraging the Water shop. How does the water shop allow for Quantitative Research? Qualitative Research? What do you need to commit to? How can this work?

slide-13
SLIDE 13

Our key success factors

02/04/2017 13

CONSUMER AWARESS RAISING:

Ø It is key to CREATE the demand for clean drinking water alongside the building of the watershops through:

  • Education programs for the waterpreneurs on health and hygiene
  • Awareness raising workshops in schools for the kids
  • Awareness raising in the villages around the watershop

A RELIABLE TECHNOLOGY AND PROCESS:

Ø The Bag-in-Box system ensures the water is not re-contaminated after filling, and does not require the usage of chlorine :

  • Great taste for the consumer
  • It can be stored easily and for longer

periods of time (flexible production)

  • 100% secure drinking water
  • Quality and production training

FOCUS Quantitative & Qualitative Research: What is the value of the Water shop? What kind of Quantitative Data… Qualitative Data… …can we get from / with the water shop?

slide-15
SLIDE 15

WATER SHOP: It is has TWO values: 1) Saving money & creating income 2) Offering valuable data

HOW?

Water solution II Extension of the model in schools

02/04/2017 16

The problem

  • More than 1500 schools have no access to clean drinkable water.
  • More than 100 000 students and children walk every day over hours to the

schools and have no chance to be served with clean drinking water. Our solution

  • For schools that have a water source but no access to clean drinkable water:

a lighter version of our watershop production system.

  • Trunz TWM01 light machine: transforms available municipal water into

clean drinkable water, while preserving the natural minerals in the source water.

  • The maintenance costs are limited and its service life much longer if

compared to conventional filtration systems and does not require any power supply.

  • Technical supporters, trained by the Timor Foundation / Scope Asia Timor

The investment per school is 11,000 USD – enabling to significantly improve the health and thereby the learning capacities of the future generation of Timor.

EXAMPLE: Facilitating the Access to Clean Water in Timor-Leste: Water Shop Management combined with “Last-Mile” Logistics (ongoing) Trunz Wall Mounted (TWM) Water Filter Machine

The TWM is a special solution for smaller buildings and organizations where the software will allow the optimal use of the available water also for the neighborhood.

Water shops also as “last mile” logistics backbone…

The water shops we have built in Dili and Oecusse can not only be managed by a specially developed water shop software from Jivana Vitality but the software also allows the water shops to leverage their customer relationships and logistics activities for “last mile” services.
