Program Information

  • Currently in its 4th year

– First at the EDC (originally at FGPA)

  • Replaces a traditional TAship

– 10 hrs per week – Content directed by the department/EDC – Supervised by the EDC

What do Mentors do?

  • Promote teaching and learning to TAs
  • Observe and provide feedback on tutorials,

discussion groups and labs

  • Lead microteaching sessions to identify strengths

and challenges of their TAs

  • Facilitate workshops
  • Mentor TAs through challenging situations
  • Direct TAs to proper resources
  • Foster a sense of community in the department
