Test Standards

  • ISO 3888. Test Track for a sever lane-change
  • manoeuvre. (Double lane-change & Obstacle

avoidance)

  • UN ECE R13H. Uniform provisions concerning the

approval of passenger cars with regard to braking

  • Annex 9. Electronic stability control systems and

brake assist systems

European Commission Directives

  • Europe saw a major step forward in vehicle safety
  • n 1 November 2014 as new safety features

became mandatory for each new car, van, truck and bus sold in the EU, by virtue of application of the General Safety Regulation (EC) No 661/2009.

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC) must be fitted as

standard equipment on practically all new cars, vans, trucks and busses.

SLIDE 17

Some Issues

  • Business aspect
  • Who tests modified vehicles that we meet on the road?
  • What needs to be tested?
  • Where can one test modified vehicles?
  • Research aspect
  • Driving robot for ice and snow covered roads, as well as test

standards.

  • Service System Integration: Suspension cooperating with

ESC for modified vehicles.

Future: Vehicle Dynamics Simulations Validation

  • ISO (with the Swedish Standard Institute) is

developing standards for validating vehicle dynamics simulations with respects to real tests.

  • Steady-state circular driving behaviour
  • Sine and Dwell

Our research contributes to

  • Validation of modified utility vehicles
  • Architecture for Services towards System

Integration

  • New and improved test standards
  • Methods for validating simulation models
  • Up-to-date graduate and undergraduate

education
