- To achieve it we need:
– To attract the best talent to our industry through a pipeline delivering employment‐ready individuals – To retain and develop our workforce
A Changing Skills Landscape
- An ageing workforce: 49% eligible for
retirement in the UK food and drink industry in next 20 years
- Between 2007 ‐ 2017, 137,000 new recruits
required of which 45% are managerial roles
- Skills shortages in technical disciplines e.g.
food science and technology and engineering

To double the number of food and drink manufacturing apprenticeship starts in England and Scotland by end of 2012

- Collective action will help us build skills for the future.
