Content of the presentation

  • Introduction Aquaminerals
  • Selection of residuals
  • Lessons learned in the Netherlands

SLIDE 3

The “tool” AquaMinerals

  • Not-for-profit (but maximizing $$ for participants).
  • Collective: selling and innovation strength,

inclusive of mandate!

  • Collective: division of risk
  • Focus on finances, sustainability and to unburden

the shareholders

  • Max 20% sales volume for non-shareholders

Our tasks (both drinking water companies and water authorities

  • Development of new products and markets
  • Supporting existing products and markets
  • Advise on laws and regulations
  • Delivery to market

Example: Calcite from the drinking water sector

Changing softening process, changing seeding material from sand to calcite

slide-7
SLIDE 7

Calcite

Successful:

  • some water companies changing process
  • availability of sand-free calcite, new applications

potentially possible

Example: cellulose from wastewater

Example: water reuse

Creating circular products, lessons learned

1

  • Entrepreneurship and the water

authorities

  • Translation of ambitions into the
  • rganisation, not that easy.

10

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Example failure (1/3)

  • Calcite in cubicle cows
  • Hygienic alternative for hay
  • Germ count in milk lower
  • Locally lot of clients
  • Price / costs OK
  • No certificates needed

Failed: calcite sank to bottom manure cellar and was very difficult to remove

slide-12
SLIDE 12

Example failure (2/3)

  • Calcite for fracking
  • Alternative ceramic balls
  • Better CO2-footprint
  • No processing needed
  • (VERY) good price

Failed: Drinking Water Companies (our shareholders) fight permits for fracking, so no basis for cooperation on supply

slide-13
SLIDE 13

Example failure (3/3)

  • Calcite in ceramics
  • White calcite fits perfectly, test OK
  • Nice imago: locally processed and used in bathroom
  • Good prices
  • Support by senior management

Failed: Apparently very powerful plant manager refuses to do endurance

  • tests. Production lines too busy.

Finally

With perseverance, targeted activities and suitable partners we ensure that raw materials arrive at the right place at the right time, in the right composition

And so we no longer have any waste
