House builders on target to build over 100,000 homes this year. What role can the industry play in removing barriers and accelerating its use What are the specific advantages/disadvantages of off-site produced housing. Pre-manufactured?

What are the barriers to using a pre-manufactured approach? What financial models are needed to support pre-manufactured housing? How might the Industry support and stimulate the use of pre- manufactured housing? Under what conditions can pre-manufacture represent an attractive solution? How might the Housing sector act strategically to enable a critical mass

  • f demand to give more certainty to manufacturers to invest in

production facilities? How might the Housing sector ensure the skills exist to utilise any increased production? Ref: the farmer report.

What next

Instead of calling homes manufactured

  • ffsite, MMC, OSM, DfM etc we want a

single universal definition.

Construction: Career of Choice? Challenges

Why does the industry find it so hard to collaborate? High levels of activity but we are not being effective in engaging young people How do we introduce a consistent approach? How do we support and work with Education? Why are we still stigmatised with a negative image among young people and influencers? Accessible to all but still there are barriers to entry Forefront of new technology and innovation – why is this message not getting across?
