  4. Overview The School Improvement Plan is an annual plan that benchmarks the strategic work identified for the following school year. It aligns with the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan: Excellence for All: A Medway Mindset in that the goals and metrics are mirrored in the School Improvement Plan. There is recognition that Strategic Plans contain elements that require long term commitments of time to remediate. Annual School Improvement Plans should provide both benchmarks towards meeting the longer term goals of Strategic Plans as well as specific action steps that will be taken during a given year. While there are plans and action steps dedicated to each of the goals of the Strategic Plan for the 2019-20 school year, we have highlighted the work connected with these areas. ● #1 Goal: Improved Learning ● Goal #2: Social and Emotional Wellness

  5. #1 Goal: Improved Learning Metrics for Success/Outcomes: Improved quality of student written responses (essay, text based, open response) by 15% in core ● content areas Improved student performance (meeting or exceeding expectations) in Mathematics and Science ● by 10% Improved target language proficiency aligned with the AFTCL standards in World Languages ● Enhanced instructional and assessment practices to reflect updates in pedagogy ● Planned Action Steps: Align writing expectations across grade/content areas; use of DBQ Project to support ● argumentative writing Align World Language curriculum to ACTFL standards ● Implement pilot math resources in Grades 5-8 ● Support enhanced, hands-on and inquiry based science ● Explore schedule to incorporate targeted support (intervention and enrichment) ● Establish aligned academic expectations (assessment, homework, etc.) ●

  6. Goal #2: Social / Emotional Wellness Metrics for Success/Outcomes: Increased percentage of students who feel comfortable reaching out to teacher/counselors for ● support by 10%. Increased percentage of faculty and staff who feel favorably about the learning climate by 10%. ● Planned Action Steps: Implement ASCA/MASCA Guidance model to align with MHS ● Embed instructional opportunities for counselors in collaboration with Wellness programming ● Implement recommendation of 2018-2019 Student Stress Committee focusing on the Culture of Care, ● scheduling, and homework Establish connections with staff engaged in professional development work focused on improving SEL ● practices and routines. Identify opportunities to increase student participation and connection to Middle School ● Identify opportunities to include a “flex block” time to provide increased academic support and enrichment ● Improve structures/responsibilities/interventions aligned with revised DCAP and on-going Tiered Systems of ● Support work
