Wolfson Strong

  • Located between San Marco and Mandarin
  • Became a dedicated magnet last year
  • By choice becoming a smaller school. Used to

have an enrollment of 2,400 students. Currently has an enrollment of 800 students.

  • Two tracks for students (both are honors): IB

(International Baccalaureate) and AP (Advanced Placement)

  • IB is by application (3,4,5 on FSA; A’s/B’s in

previous years and an essay); AP is by lottery but has the same academic requirements because they are all honors and college level classes.

  • Next year, there will only be 100 neighborhood

students attending, all others will be magnet students.

Academic

  • AP Teachers Training IB Training Enhancing and developing the IB and

AP programs. Teachers meet regularly with other successful AP/IB teachers in the district to pace and lesson plan.

  • All regular electives that most schools offer, but we also have three

unique tracks of electives as well:

  • JROTC and its leadership components
  • Business (technology, business, entrepreneurship, Vystar)
  • Law (court procedures, introduction to law, peer mediation)

Physical

  • Painting of hallways, bathrooms, and LOTS of clean-up
  • Landscaping (Anthem Church donating and installing approximately $10K in landscaping)
  • CRU leading campus clean-up
  • New furniture in guidance and media center
  • Parking lots redone and all signage redone
  • New carpeting in office areas and bandroom
  • Stage and auditorium curtains replaced
  • New stage and drama room constructed
  • About half of the lockers removed and art galleries installed
  • About 30 portables removed and tailgating areas and practice fields in their place
  • Beginning in February, 2018, courtyards remodeled to install an outdoor serving and eating area

with covered patios, furniture and gaming areas. Two other courtyards to be redone for outdoor academic/reading areas

  • New concrete in outside areas for safer and more aesthetic areas.
  • Remodeling office area
  • New trophy cases to be installed by the end of the school year

Community Partnerships

  • Several business partners and faith based partners added
  • Parents initiated a Friends of Wolfson 501c3 corporation for

fundraising and teacher support

  • Began several leadership opportunities and clubs for the students

in partnership with business, churches and non-profit

  • rganizations throughout the city
  • Feeder School partnerships – Hosting sports, activities and
  • ffering tutoring and community service (such as Friday Night

Lights, Tutoring at Landon, Trunk or Treat for elementary schools, etc.

  • Alumni Activities in partnership with sporting events.
