Industrial Training Objectives • To give an exposure to students regarding the working/industrial environments. industries/organizations. • Provide opportunities for students to apply the theory learned in lectures during the training industry. • Provide opportunities for students to acquire technical skills in industry. • Develop attitudes of cooperation and encourage interaction between students, workers in industry and society.

  7. 1 st thing to do: Read the INTRA User Manual! You can download from the CIGC website: http://www.cigc.unimap.edu.my

  8. The next step… 1. Log in to the osi.unimap.edu.my  industrial training application 2. Search for some suitable companies through the system 3. After clicking the “Apply” button, the application letter can be printed.

  12. • Some companies that you are interested to apply are not in the list? • If so, you can request to add the companies in the system through your Industrial Training Coordinator (InTeam) who is Ts. Dr. Khairul Najmy Abdul Rani for the RY41 programme . • Please give details as follows:

  14. The next step… Please write a very good resume to impressed the employers! No need to be 4. Prepare you resume! too long , can be a compact resume will all the information needed. Highlight on your working experience or experience working with some engineering tools and machines or your achievement including voluntary work! *Don’t forget to include your academic achievements (CGPA)!

  16. REMINDER!! PLEASE APPLY THE • COMPANIES THAT ARE RELATED WITH YOUR ACADEMIC BACKGROUND ONLY. INTERNSHIP LOCATION OR • PLACE MUST NOT BE THE FIRST PRIORITY. IT IS IMPORTANT TO • STUDY THE BACKGROUND AND REPUTATION OF THE COMPANY THROUGH READINGS OR ASKING PREVIOUS INTERN OR SENIOR YOU MAY KNOW

  17. The next step… Waiting for the response from the company… The respond from the companies may • take a week, months, few months or the last day before the Industrial Training starts. So, be patient! The companies will respond through • your Industrial Coordinator or might respond directly to you through email or phone call.

  18. Upon the confirmation of the placement, some regulations need to be followed… • Students are NOT ALLOWED to accept more than one training place at a time. • Students are NOT ALLOWED to change the internship company after the acceptance letter of placement has been sent to the respective industry. • Once placement is offered by the industries, students are required to response to the offer within the stipulated period, or as soon as possible. • Students are NOT ALLOWED to ask potential companies about allowances.

  19. When the company replied… Industrial Training Coordinator (InTeam) will update the response ( accepted or rejected ) in the system. 1. You can check the update through the system. 2. If your application to one of the applied companies is accepted, you can click “Accept” button and print out the “Acceptance Letter” if you want to do the internship at that company. 3. The acceptance letter should be submitted to the accepted company.

  21. When the company reply… 4. If you want to wait for the respond from other companies, please do not click the “Accept” button yet. 5. Wait until several companies or your ‘targeted’ company respond (accept your application) then you can choose the company to accept for internship. 6. For the rejected company, you need to print out the rejection letter and submit to that company.

  24. When Reporting For Industrial Training.. Students are required to bring the following documents to the Host Company: 1. Host Company Offer Letter 2. The Acceptance Letter 3. Student Matric Card 4. Industrial Training Logbook The logbook -Please download from the system and bind. • The logbook is used to record all the activities/tasks that • have been done during internship period signed by industrial supervisor. You have to send the logbook back to industrial training • coordinator by hand or via mail/courier service soon after completing the internship.

  25. In one week after reporting... 1. In one week after reporting for the internship at the company, you need to submit a verification form to CIGC 2. The verification form already attached in the logbook or you can download separate form from the CIGC website 3. After filling up, please upload the form into the intra system (OSI) on the menu upload > verification form

  26. In three or four weeks after reporting... 1. In three or four weeks after reporting for the internship at the company, you may contact industrial coordinator if the task or duty given to you is not suitable for a bachelor degree student, such as doing an operator or general worker job. 2. Sometimes, it is good to do the low level job for the first two or three weeks prior doing the high level task or duty to get a whole idea or experience of the job in industry. 3. However, if this keeps continuing after one month or two months, there might be a possibility an intern has been exploited as a cheap labour. 4. Prior calling the industrial coordinator, you may ask politely the host company supervisor to assign the suitable task or duty related to your academic background or level. 5. The worst case is you may need to change to a new company so act fast and do not keep silent.

Program Latihan Industri Perpaduan (PLIP) Objektif Menyediakan platform interaksi dan ruang untuk membina hubungan antara mahasiswa bumiputera dengan pekerja dan majikan dari syarikat bukan bumiputera, memupuk perpaduan dan kefahaman silang budaya dan silang kerjaya di kalangan mahasiswa bumiputera dengan pekerja dan majikan bukan bumiputera bagi meningkatkan interaksi dan mengurangkan polarisasi di kalangan mereka dan meningkatkan minat dan keyakinan mahasiswa bumiputera untuk bekerja di syarikat bukan bumiputera
