Background (1/2) • Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS, MLPP,…) key requirement: – Guarantee superior probability of Call Completion from an authorized user in times of crisis • For some services this means network needs to support a preemptive model • For some services this means network needs to support an “admission priority” whereby some resources are set aside for emergency services only draft-lefaucheur-emergency-rsvp-00.txt IETF 64

Background (2/2) • draft-ietf-tsvwg-mlpp-that-works “Implementing an Emergency Telecommunications Service for Real Time Services in the Internet Protocol Suite” describes: – call admission procedures allowing support of Emergency Telecommunications Service – how to use RSVP protocol suite for that purpose (and link with SIP) – How to use RSVP Preemption Priority Policy Element to support the preemptive model • draft-lefaucheur-emergency-rsvp specifies a “Admission Priority Policy Element” to support admission priority • Similar concept to “<Admission Priority> Parameter (ID=12)” of NSIS QSPEC draft-lefaucheur-emergency-rsvp-00.txt IETF 64
