Over the course of a research career, you will have to:

– Justify how your research is making a contribution for the greater good/Value Creation in Society – Compete with your peers and have to justify why your research is more needed than others – Understand options for financing your research – Match your research to the ‘best-fit’ funding instruments – Communicate results to different audiences – Develop – A researcher that can secure their own funding is more likely to have a job!

The Industry Engagement Process

Trinity’s roadmap for industry partnership

Identify the key business and research challenges facing your

  • rganisation

Meeting between researchers in company and Trinity. Identify outline programme – scope, scale and cost. Identify key business issues – IP, staffing, infrastructure . Determine most suitable funding mechanism. Implement the programme. Determine the key scientific challenges and capabilities required to provide solutions. Map these problems onto the competencies of TCD researchers.

Deliver results
