How We Pray

• Vocal prayer

– An action of the heart seeking God

• Meditative prayer

– A quest; concentrating on Scripture, holy writings, and lives of the saints

• Contemplative prayer

– An intense and intimate union in which the person is wrapped up in God

Why We Pray

• Adoration – exalt Him and humble ourselves
• Contrition – a sinner begging for His mercy
• Thanksgiving – in all circumstances;

strengthens faith

• Supplication – place our

needs & petitions before Him
