Program Highlights 2015-2016

  • Studio in Art Pittsburgh Trip was a great success
  • K-12 Art Club opportunities for student enrichment
  • Numerous art show and exhibitions around the Rochester

and Buffalo areas.

  • Two successful Art Boosters Paint Night fund raisers

sponsored by Art Boosters, taught by art faculty.

  • Grades 2-12 Art Instagram accounts promoting the visual

arts in our schools. (@hfl.manor.art, @hfl.ms.art, @hfl.art)

  • Attended Educators Workshops through the MAG
  • NYSATA Conference in Rochester.
  • The HS section of the Program of Studies was revamped,

much like Brighton HS’s design to help facilitate better student understanding.

  • 6 HS courses were mapped last summer.

Association Conference in NYC in March. This will be the first time any HFL teachers will have the opportunity to attend.

  • Working with the Master Facilities Committee to design

the new Manor and HS Art Suites.

  • HS has worked to offer a variety of courses while staffing

and enrollment has decreased. (alternating years of

  • fferings, incorporating a Graphic Design course SAMR)

DIU Goals

1.

By June 2017 all K-12 Art Programs will increase in rigor and relevance through art delivery and curriculum.

2.

By June 2017 the HS Art Department will implement a minimum of two updated course offerings that advance relevant and rigorous instruction.

 K-12 Art teachers have been collaboratively

involved in researching and producing the Art Program Evaluation.

 Have viewed and evaluated the newly

proposed NYS Art Standards

 Revised multiple units to increase rigor and

relevance

will offer a 20 week course of Graphic Design. Strategies

technology in the classroom (SAMR, staff development, conferences and program evaluation)

 Utilize BYOD  Courses at the HS that offer technology

(photography, graphic design)
