2015

The PE department is delighted with its new washing machines purchased for the department by the PTA at a cost of £499.

Science Labs

2016

After 15 months of fundraising and receiving grants from the Wolfson Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation and Cargill, the PTA raised £130k to fund two new S cience labs at the school.

Laser Cutter

2016

During 2016 the PTA raised £20K to purchase a laser cutter for use in the Design and Technology department. S ince then, it has been used countless times to enrich learning, as well as raising even more funds by making Christmas decorations, providing medals for the Clandon Park Run and even a bespoke bar menu for the PTA!

Silk Screens

2017

The PTA paid for a whole stack of silk screens to be refurbished. The Textiles department uses this technique for printing images and designs on T-shirts, tote bags, paper, wood, ceramics and other materials.

Learning Resources

2017

The PTA funded a range of learning resources such as dictionaries and literature books for the English department.

The Visual Impairment Unit

2017

The Visual Impairment Unit at George Abbot benefited from a new Braille reader, thanks to the PTA and Waitrose green tokens. The VI Unit provides a supportive learning environment and promotes the achievement and development of students who are visually impaired within an inclusive mainstream secondary school.

Computer Equipment

2017

The PTA raised £8k which, together with an in-kind donation from a local company worth £22k, resulted in an upgrade of computer equipment across the school.

Elmslie Hall Refurbishment

2018

Over the summer of 2018, the PTA provided funding of £4,000 toward the refurbishment

  • f Elmslie Hall, which included redecoration,

sanded floors and new curtains.

Fitness Suite

2018

With the health and wellbeing of students in mind, the focus of the PTA ’s fundraising efforts was on the complete refurbishment of the school’s fitness suite. The PTA raised £25,000 towards the works and were delighted to welcome former student and Olympic gold medallist Liam Heath to cut the ribbon!

Raynham Hall Sound System

2018

The PTA contributed £4,000 towards the upgrade of the sound system in Raynham Hall, which was promptly put into use for the whole school production of Bugsy Malone!

Science Equipment

2019

The PTA provided £1,207 to implement upgrades to the school’s S cience equipment, as recommended by the examinations board. This included power signal generators, rheostats, smart timers and LED lasers.

Learning Hubs

2019

The PTA provided £4k to create four multi- purpose spaces in the school’s old

  • cloakrooms. Four bays will act as learning

hubs for S ixth Formers and Y ear 11 students to complete group work and private study and as additional seating for dining and as a wet weather space.
