Blood Lead Data Flow General Overview  Blood is drawn and analyzed  Test Result reported by testing lab to CLPPP (5 business days)  Results imported into MICLPS  MICLPS populates HHLPSS and provides the weekly HD uploads  Results sent to MDHHS Data Warehouse  Linked with MCIR  Reports and data requests are pulled from the warehouse

Providers/Laboratories  Providers  Order lead test to be performed by clinical laboratory  LeadCare  Many PCP , Local Health Departments, WIC clinics and other community groups  Perform in office Capillary screening using the Leadcare2 machines  Laboratories  Clinical labs, hospital labs, nationwide labs  Receive blood samples from providers  Can do both Capillary and Venous tests

  4. Providers/Laboratories  Administrative Rule: R 325.9083  All blood lead tests for Michigan residents of all ages must be reported to CLPPP  All Blood lead tests must be reported to the CLPPP program within 5 business days of test completion  Data must be submitted electronically

CLPPP Daily Functions  Receive files from labs  DCH-File Transfer  HL7 Messaging  Some Paper copies via secure Fax  Review Files for  Complete data  Submission time  Results ≥20 ug/dl  Immediately reported to LHD for follow up  Process files for proper import into surveillance database

CLPPP Weekly Data Processing  Import all test results into surveillance database  Ensure all data is accurate and complete  Address validation  Check for missing patient information (Name, DOB)  Check date logic  1 page sheet is sent to provider or lab to get information before it is included in the weekly file  Produce weekly reports  Healthy homes section  ABLES program  HHLPSS database  Local Health Departments  Data Warehouse

Data Warehouse  All blood lead results are uploaded to the state data warehouse on a weekly basis  Medicaid reporting  CLPPP reports  Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)  Live query into Data Warehouse  Will show Blood Lead results for any individual in MCIR  Blood lead tests that appear in MCIR have gone through the CLPPP processing and are in our records.
