POLYCARBONATE

Polycarbonate was invented almost simultaneously in the USA and in Germany in 1956. Polycarbonate is a clear and very tough amorphous resin, made by polymerization of bisphenol A, which comes from the synthesis of natural oil and gas. Polycarbonate sheet are made from thisresins, by heating the raw material (resin granulate) and extruding it into sheet. This is possible because polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer, which maintains its excellent properties after heating and forming.

W HY USE PC?

  • High im pact strength - 250 tim es stronger than glass, 20 tim es

stronger than acrylic.

  • Virtually unbreakable over a w ide tem perature range (-20 C to +120

C), able to w ithstand shattering, cracking, crazing or even breaking.

  • Design freedom – light w eight, highly flexible, easy to fabricate on
  • site. Can be easily cold form ed, and w ill not crack or splinter w hen

fabricated.

  • Good fire characteristics – self extinguished m aterial. The sheet does

not contribute to flam e spread. When subjected to flam es from spreading fire, the m aterial only m elts aw ay and form holes w hich release sm oke, gases and heat. It does not em it toxic gases.

  • High light transm ission – high degree of light transm ission w hile

blocking harm ful Ultra Violet rays.

  • Excellent w eatherability – 1 side w ith UV co-extruded, to give longer

lifespan of m aterial.

  • 10 years w arranty – against discoloration, loss of light transm ission,

and loss of strength due to w eathering.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

 Periodic cleaning using proper procedures are recom m ended to pro long the life span of m aterial.  Wash with m ild soap or detergent with lukewarm water.  Use soft cloth or sponge to gently wash-off / loosen dirt and then rinse it well with clean water.  Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners or cleaning im plem ents that m ay affect the sheet.
