A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME… My name is Paula Jane Howkins I live in Riddlington with my family, I love my family. I have a niece and nephew. I go to Rutwel everyday. I do lots of work placements and some adult learning courses that I am going to tell you all about today. S o here goes…
MY WORK PLACEMENTS
Hoagies I work at Hoagies on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10oclock until 10:30. I meet the hoagies staff at the council offices and help to take the food in to sell it to the council staff. I help take the money and have to work out the right change to give.
FOOD BANK Rutland Food bank is near Rutland Radio. I work here every other Wednesday afternoons at 1oclock till 3oclock. I help to pack the bags of food and take them to the customers. We also do drinks there and I help to make our customers some tea and coffee. I really enjoy it!
AGE UK I go to Age UK on the second Monday of each month. Its at St John & St Anne that is near the fire station on South Street. It is a group session that lots of people come too. I help to do the washing up and I help serve the tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes to all our visitors. I also get to listen to the speakers that come and do really good talks. We also get to go to some places like, Manton Pub and Gates Nursery for afternoon tea.
MUSEUM CAFÉ I work at the Rutwel Café @The Museum on Fridays. The Café opens at 10:30 till 1:30 but we have to be their earlier to set up. At the café, I take orders, make drinks, use the till and waitress. I also help with baking our delicious cakes and doing the shopping before the café. Everyone is welcome, please come along!
MY COLLEGE COURSE’S
POTTERY I go to my pottery class a Friday afternoon 1oclock till 3:30pm. My taxi collects me to take me home once I'm finished. In class I have made models. I have made OALF and Elsa from frozen, trolls, Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle Duck, Paddington bear and also a Football plaque. I really enjoy my class!
ENGLISH CLASS I go to my English Class every Thursday morning at Adult Learning. It starts at 9:30 until 11:30am. My taxi drops me off. I am doing my Entry level 3 at the minute and I am having to do exams too. I really enjoy this class and have learnt lots.
OTHER COURSES I HAVE DONE… I have done a personal Hygiene course. In this I learnt how to wash my hands correctly and I got to put my hands in a machine that showed my the bacteria on my hands. This was really useful for the work I do at the café. I am doing Cookery at the minute, I have made some lovely dinners that I take home, I have made lasagne, jacket potatoes, toad in the hole and lots more. This has taught me lots of new skills. I really enjoy it!
