READING FOR UNDERSTANDING

The judgments on the earth are similar to the plagues in Egypt in freeing those oppressed by Pharaoh. In the Exodus, what are plagues for the Egyptians are miraculous events for the Israelites. What are judgments on the earth for the blood of the martyrs are justice to those who suffered at their

  • hands. Remember that the martyrs prayed, “How much longer

Lord must we suffer?” The destruction is substantial but still limited (only 1/3)

THE FIRST 4 TRUMPETS

1ST TRUMPET Mixed hail, fire, blood Burned up 1/3 of the land Similar to the plague in Egypt Raining hail and fire
