THE 144,000 SEALED

The four angels are told to hold back the destruction until the 144,000 are sealed

Greco-Roman world, people were sealed as a sign of ownership The sealing sets them apart as belonging to God and under his protection

Part 1 of the vision is

READING FOR UNDERSTANDING

The judgments on the earth are similar to the plagues in Egypt in freeing those oppressed by Pharaoh. In the Exodus, what are plagues for the Egyptians are miraculous events for the Israelites. What are judgments on the earth for the blood of the martyrs are justice to those who suffered at their

• hands. Remember that the martyrs prayed, “How much longer

Lord must we suffer?” The destruction is substantial but still limited (only 1/3)

WOE TO THE INHABITANTS OF THE EARTH

Three woes to warn that three more trumpets are about to blow Events that were directed to the earth in the first 4 events are now directed to humanity

The opening up of Hades and releasing of locusts

They are not to harm the grass or plants. They are to go after people who do not have the seal. They were not allowed by God to kill them. They are to torment humanity for 5 months

Their king, the angel of the abyss named “Destruction”

Release of the 200 million army to kill 1/3 of human

• race. Still those who lived did not repent.

The Call to Repent Give up worship of demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood Give up evil actions murder, magic potions, unchastity and robbery God hopes they would repent, but they do not
