  3. What is the course Open Networked Learning (ONL)? ● Collaboration between educational developers at different universities nationally and internationally ● An open online course (cMOOC) in English ● pedagogy course offered for teachers at collaborating institutions ● open course for teachers, educational developers, IT pedagogues, course developers in higher education ● Builds on open and collaborative learning and explores how the problem-based learning (PBL) can be utilized in a digital environment ● Offers an arena to learn about and experience key issues regarding digital learning and competence with colleagues from different contexts and disciplines ● Building a community of ”learning by doing” for Open Networked Learning

  11. “I feel enriched because I've been exposed to such rich and big topics, but also impoverished because I've only dipped my toes into these topics - I feel that there's so much more in these topics that I'm only just getting to know better, and now the course has ended, boo!” “For me personally there were many first in this course. First time blogging, first time tweeting but also the collaborative work” Learnt from “We were pushed beyond our comfort zones to embrace virtual reality and learn to exist within it. It has inspired me to take learning, for my students into the blended learning space” ONL “Through all the frustration I felt, I learned a lot. And I learned a lot about myself as a learner” “The course has definitely open new avenues for my teaching, learning and research activities” “ONL was a very valuable experience. It proposes an approach to learning practice “I tried to implement what I learned in the course and which is still not widely used” immediately received positive feedback from students”

  12. “The most impressive experience during the course was seeing the awesome results achieved using collaboration, results that extended far beyond anything I could have imagined” “The benefits of engaging as co-constructors and collaborators of shared knowledge, using digital platforms has been eye -opening. I can see the benefit of it in a law classroom” Collaboration “I have learned a lot about how and why to collaborate "online" that the sum of what we achieved was greater than what we could have done individually. ” “Collaborative learning was a particularly significant topic because it enabled us to reflect upon our interactions with one another, as well as whether or not we were making a significant contribution to the learning of the entire group” “New technologies has made it so easy to feel you meet each other face to face” “It is a challenge, but manageable and clearly “Being brave enough to do it!” an opportunity to change education as such”

  13. ”Lovely to experience how we came from “We came from different worlds, backgrounds, etc., yet different backgrounds – but in many instances our synergy was amazing. I would love to do research on we were from the same culture of learning” how to emulate something like that and why that took place, because we were so different” ”I was always surprised by the many different perspectives that could be used to discuss a topic, mainly due to having diverse backgrounds” Diversity ”Participants from different races, ethnicities, genders, professions could collaborate as a team on one platform and learn from and with each other” “To solve a problem can be done in many ways and by having "my way" reflected in other people's views enhance my capabilities to actually add to a solution far more thought through than if I only sat down with my "safe" network” ”Very interesting to see different perspectives, both internationally ”The diversity of views was and from teachers working on different levels” brilliant!”

  14. “This course was a great opportunity to explore and experience what openness in education and collaborative learning means” “The course opened my eyes to seeing openness in a Openness different light than before, and it showed in a very concrete manner the benefits of being open and sharing in a wide range of ways” “Openness and sharing was a big 'aha' moment for me. I am now comfortable with OERS to such an extent that I am using g them frequently since completing the course and suggesting that my students do the same”

  15. “Time limitations due to every day life (ie job-related) other responsibilities” “Lack of time, due to parallel full time teaching” Challenges “Difficult to schedule and attend meetings” “Different time zones, communication issues” “Absence of group members, physical or in contributions” “Uneven levels of commitment in the “Navigating the technological aspects of the group” course”

  16. The Contextual Knowledge Practices Questionnaire (CKP) • is based on the learning approach “trialogical learning” (Paavola et.al., 2011) • developed to address aspects of generic competences related to collaboration, knowledge creation and use of digital technology • aims to evaluate self-assessed competence-development during courses that use group work or collaborative knowledge creation assignments • 29 items for self-assessed learning of competences “During the course I have learned…” “to develop ideas further together with others” “to present my expertise to representatives of another field” etc

  17. Scales for analyzing the results 1. Learning to collaborate on shared objects 2. Integrating individual and collaborative working 3. Iterative development through feedback 4.
