  3. A message from the Principal Ocean Reef SHS is the school of choice within our community. We produce strong results in NAPLAN and OLNA and our students see success in WACE through General, ATAR or VET (training) pathways. Quality teaching makes the biggest difference for student success and our teachers value building relationships with students. We have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour and prioritise every student with a pathway to a successful future.

Developing & Caring for the Whole Child • We provide a friendly and supportive environment with a focus on student outcomes through engagement. • Students are catered for with a range of extension, pastoral, literacy and numeracy initiatives. • Students with a diagnosed or imputed learning disability or learning difficulty are valued and supported.

  6. ‘High School Ready’ Students have a comprehensive ‘High School Ready’ Program which includes: • Primary School visits – throughout Term 4 2020. • Year 6 Transition Day – 1 December 2020. • ‘Big Days In’ – for the first 2 days of school in 2021, Year 7 students will focus on ‘getting to know’ their peers, teachers, timetables and day to day school procedures.   8. Enhancing Teaching and Learning through ICT From 2021, all Year 7-10 students are expected to bring a fully charged laptop device to school every day. The device must be compatible with the school’s ICT network and comply with school and Department of Education requirements (specifications can be found on our website).

  10. Cadets Programs Surf Life Saving and Emergency Cadets cater to students in years 7-12. A majority of activities are conducted outside of the school. Some of the skills cadets will learn at lessons include: First Aid Swimming training Abseiling CPR course Camping Camp Craft Surfing Bush walking Climbing Skippers Ticket Cycling Basic Rescues Snorkeling Sand dune restoration Community Surf Rescue Acceptance is conducted on a ballot system. Once successful, enrolment rolls over to following year automatically. Information on how to apply for Cadets Programs will be advised at our Parent Information Evening in November 2020.

  11. Maximum Intake for Programs • Academic Extension Program – 32 (each pathway) • Contemporary Music Program – 50 (2 classes of 25) • Marine Studies – 44 (2 classes of 22) • Soccer Program – 32 • Cadets – 22 • Specialist Learning Program – approximately 3
