Program Focus

Technical Assistance to Parks: provides on-the-ground science training and experience for the next generation of park scientists and stewards, while fulfilling critical natural resource science needs of parks, regional networks, and central offices. The GIP program places close to 200 interns in parks each year. Project Categories

Diversity in Science: 2014 data revealed that the National Park Service workforce is 18% racially diverse (African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islanders,

  • thers). In STEM fields, this number drops down to 3%,

100 applications each

  • Diversify! Increase your chances by

applying to:

○ A big park ○ A small park ○ Your dream park

  • Highlight your outdoor skills!

○ Did you complete field work as part of your degree? Travel to national parks as a kid? Do you love backpacking? ○ All of these are great supplemental skills that let supervisors know you are a good fit for the park service.
