Induction
‘The transition from the teaching practice arrangements in initial teacher education programmes to the taking of full responsibility for teaching a class is a significant one’ (DES, 2005) ‘…induction is a distinct phase, a socialisation process into the professional learning community of the school and into the profession…’ (Teaching Council, 2017)

Droichead Supports
Minimum period 60 consecutive days within an approved setting Normally mainstream but… School-Based Induction Activities + Cluster Meeting/s (1 per term) + 1 other Additional Professional Learning Activity 20-hour Workshops Not a requirement but... A Joint declaration by the NQT and PST that ‘through our engagement in Droichead, we believe we have participated in a quality teaching and learning process’
Professional Practice Requirement Same as 60 days above. 10 week school placement taken into account

- Ask at interview if they would consider offering
the Droichead process The traditional probation model (with the inspectorate) will not be available to you.
