  2. Storyline My mock video is called ‘Crushed can, crushed soul’. It is about drunk driving. My main aim was to raise awareness on drunk driving since it is a big issue in today’s day and age. My story is about a girl who is in a car with a drunk friend who is driving the car. This video is from her brother’s perspective and how it affected him.

  3. Actors

  4. Tahavvur Khan as ‘Taha’ (right) & Aiza Hashmi as ‘Aiza’ (left)

  5. Hamza Faisal as ‘Hamza’, the drunk driver

  6. Sameer Gul as ‘Sameer’ , the father.

  7. Nabeeha Aziz as ‘Nabeeha’

  8. Faisal Mohammad as ‘Faisal’

  9. Ayana Anwar as ‘Ayana’

  10. How my video talks about social issues My video is about drunk driving which is a huge social issue. It is a problem in many parts of the world. It not only affects the drivers themselves, but also the people with them in the other car, and around them on the road. It takes thousands of lives everyday. In US alone, everyday, 29 people die in car crashes that involve an alcohol impaired driver. That is one death every 50 minutes.

  11. How my video engages my audience My video is targeted towards those who can drive, so supposedly for ages 16+. My driver in the video is 18 to make it seem more realistic, since a lot of drunk drivers tend to be young high school / college students just ‘having some fun’. (Hamza, the ‘drunk driver’ actor’s actual age is 16. He did not actually drive in the video; the camera was moved in a way to give it that effect.) My video engages the audience as it is a very common everyday scenario and many might be able to relate as well.

  12. How can my media be distributed? My media type could be distributed by making a movie poster and putting it up around places. Another way could be posting about it on social media to promote my ‘movie’. And lastly, flyers could personally be given out to people.

  13. How my skills developed I learnt a lot while filming this video, especially since it was my first one. I made a lot of mistakes and I’m glad I did so because then hopefully, I won’t repeat them in my final video component. I learnt that filming is not easy at all. I learnt how to take different shots using different angles etc with a camera. I also learnt how important mise-en-scene is. Adding on, I also realized that a good film isn’t just about great acting, but about great filming too. I now have greater knowledge on how to film better.

  14. Use of technology & softwares • For my video, I used an iPhone 7 plus to film it. • To edit it, I used a software called ‘iMovie’.

  15. Editing To edit my mock video, I used a software called 'iMovie'. On this software I did all my editing, added voiceovers and non- diegetic sounds. In this video, the diegetic sounds are dialogues and the music playing in the car. On the other, the non-diegetic sounds are the car brakes, the voice-overs and the birds chirping. The birds chirping, the heartbeat and the the car brakes were all edited sounds to add effects to the appropriate scenes. Using this software, I also added transitions. The transitions I used in this video are ripple effect and fade out (to white).

  16. Mise-en-scene As per mise-en-scene, I tried my very best to make sure that the actors's costumes matched their character. For the Tahavvur (the brother), I made sure he was wearing a comfy sleep wear during the late night shot. He was also wearing a pair of glasses while studying to give him more of a 'studious look'. As for Aiza (the sister), I made sure she was wearing something towards the hip side with makeup on to make it look like she's ready for a party. For Sameer, (the father), I made him wear a traditional arab man's outfit to give him the 'dad- vibe'. In my opinion, the glasses just added on to that, and so did the newspaper.
