Let's start with the basics. MFA stands for…

Basically, MFA is a way of securing your data, with users requiring different 'factors' or credentials to gain access.

Knowledge Factor

Something you know, such as a password, PIN or answers to secret questions.

Location Factor

Using a device's GPS settings to determine where you are.

Time Factor

Limiting login by time, such as work schedules, or time limitations.

Possession Factor

Something you have, such as a

  • ne-time password (OTP), keyfob
  • r a security token.

Inherence Factor

Biological traits, such as fingerprints and iris scans.

Far more secure than just a password Protect data and sensitive information Can be set up with convenience in mind Works towards a passwordless world Better secure remote working More steps involved in regaining access if factors cannot be provided….which is kind of a good thing, right?
