MCN Transcultural - Russia

General itinerary

• 2 week trip following spring semester —minimum of 6

students travel with one MCN faculty

• The group will be immersed in a cultural and health care

experience. ▫ Tour regional hospitals, clinics, camp for children in remission with cancer, orphanage, rehabilitation facility,

• ther health care facilities

▫ A visit to the well known School of Gymnastics which produces some of Russia’s top Olympic gymnasts ▫ Participate in folkloric craft-making of the area and witness cultural theatre, music, art ▫ Attend classes and social events with nursing students from Vladimir Medical College ▫ Visit family homes in Vladimir and share traditional family meals ▫ Tour the city of Vladimir and the beautiful architecture from the 11th century as well as Suzdal, Murom, and take a day trip to Moscow

• MCN students have the opportunity to attend several lecture and lab classes with Vladimir

students

• Engage in activities to enhance understanding of the Russian culture

Spend time with students outside of the college to gain insight to student leisure life

Vladimir & Surrounding Area

The Cathedral of Assumption, the most magnificent cathedral in Vladimir, built by Andre Bogolubov. The Klyazma River, which runs just outside the city.
