Litter Cleanup Crews

The WBID employs two men through Better Futures Enterprises to keep the district welcoming and clean. The men are responsible for:  620 hours of time spent working in the community  Removal of 938 pounds of litter from West Broadway sidewalks and curbs  Additional 42 hours working to remove poster graffiti, remove weeds

City Service Requests

WBID staff is responsible for reporting and city staff completing:  10 instances of graffiti tagging & removal  Filling of 8 large potholes  Properly disposing of illegally dumped materials on 5 separate occasions  Repair of 8 traffic light poles  Improved upkeep of city owned lots

District Branding

The WBID recognizes the importance of having a strong brand for commercial district. This can help with marketing, perception issues, and creating a sense of

  • place. The WBID has taken up multiple initiatives to have

the district logo prominently placed through the entirety

  • f the commercial corridor including:

 Partnership with Metro Transit to “Adopt” 10 bus shelters located in the district  Installation of 134 aluminum banners on light poles through entire district  Publishing of regular newsletter

Holiday Decorations

To create a more inviting, and aesthetically pleasing commercial

  • corridor. The WBID has purchased holiday decorations that will be

mounted on 64 light poles through the entire district.

Leveraging Outside Investment

The West Broadway Business and Area Coalition was able to use the WBID as leverage to receive grants for infrastructure and service improvements.  The WBID will play a major role in a number of future place making and infrastructure projects supported by a $250,000 grant from national ArtPlace.  $55,000 will be used to install electrical outlets in a portion of the WBID to allow for lit holiday decorations.  $10,000 partnership with Hennepin County, will be used to implement a recycling program in the district.
