• The Companies ACT 2013, passed by the Government of India and in effect since 1st April, 2014 defines the CSR Law. According, to Section 135 and Schedule VII
• f the Companies Act, CSR Law is applicable on companies with the following threshold limit.

a) Net worth of the company to be INR 500 crore or more; b) T urnover of the company to be INR 1000 crore or more; c) Net profit of the company to be INR 5 crore or more

• The companies have to spend 2% of their Net Profits in CSR activities. Estimates indicate that CSR commitments from companies can amount to as much as

INR 20,000 crores.

• India ranks 117th in 128 countries on Sustainable Development Goals as ranked by United Nations. The knowledge about the subject is confined in India Inc.
