Background

  • As part of the Queensland Government Renewal Program, agencies

investigated opportunities to improve transport service delivery for people with disability, aiming to: – integrate value for money service delivery by government – increase level of consumer choice and control – increase market capability to deliver better services.

  • Investigation led to the identification of challenges and opportunities

to better coordinate transport for people with disability

  • Proposed strategies and actions to capitalise on the opportunities

using mobility management tools and techniques (for example, technological applications).

Defining the cohort

  • 1 in 5 Queenslanders

have a disability (an estimated 830,000 people)

  • ¼ of these people have

severe mobility restrictions

  • In 2019, approximately 97,000

Queenslanders will be eligible for NDIS support

  • Increasing number of frail

aged

  • Increasing incidence of

medical conditions impacting mobility.

What is the Maranoa Mobility Management Demonstration Project all about?

Maranoa was identified as an opportunity to:

  • build on work already undertaken

(2011 Transport Forum)

  • demonstrate the value of a mobility management approach by

leveraging available community resources and building the capacity

  • f local service providers to offer quality and cost efficient transport

services

  • understand the market’s readiness to respond to new service delivery

models in a regional context

  • prepare the market to deliver new and innovative services in line with

NDIS and Aged Care service delivery models.
