Instructional Considerations

  • Staff training is planned for September including: “Zooming like a Pro;” “Meeting All

Students Needs through Differentiation and Infusing Best Practices on Zoom;” “Implementing Guided Reading on Zoom”

  • Grade Level plans comprised of best practices and strategies are being developed to

maximize the learning environment and improve staff/student and student/student engagement through:

○ Synchronous Instruction refers to “live or real-time” interaction with teacher through Zoom/Google Meet; using the Chat feature; collaborating with students and/or teacher/educational specialist / paraprofessional in a Breakout Room on Zoom or working on a shared Google doc, presentation, excel sheet, etc. ○ Asynchronous Instruction refers to instruction, work assignments, feedback that is not live or in real-time, such as, but not limited to: Posts on Google Classroom, Flipgrid Videos, Email, Comments in Google Classroom, or on a Google doc, presentation, excel sheet that are not live.

  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is being implemented throughout the district through use of

Responsive Classroom strategies, embedded social skill lessons, Mindfulness Practices and Gratitude Practices

slide-10
SLIDE 10

HYBRID Classroom Model

Roomers Zoomers

***The Hybrid classroom model will be gradually phased-in for our MFA students during the first three weeks of school.

slide-11
SLIDE 11

Gradual Phase-In of Hybrid Instruction

What will remote instruction look like for my student?

  • Our youngest learners need time to build stamina for online, synchronous

learning with their teacher/classmates.

  • Over the first few weeks of school, we will increase the time spent during

remote, synchronous instruction.

  • Before school begins, packets will be available for pick-up at MFA, so students

have paper-pencil activities to complete when not online.

  • Students will also be expected to complete online activities that will be
  • utlined on each teacher’s Google Classroom.
  • Additional information will be shared with families over the next few weeks.
  • Classroom teachers will share a “Screencastify” video with all families before

school starts. Students will be able to see their teachers (without masks), classroom setups, and review classroom procedures/schedules.

slide-12
SLIDE 12

100 % Remote Information

100% Remote Learning Guidelines:

  • Any student with a request for remote learning must stay in that mode of

instruction for at least one trimester.

  • Parents/Guardians may request their child(ren) leave remote learning and

transition to in-person learning after completing one trimester. These requests must be submitted in writing addressed to the building principal at least 10 working days before the end of the trimester (you will receive a correspondence from me prior to this deadline).

  • If your child is on remote learning, they will have access to all services provided

by the school (ex: counseling, related services, etc.).

  • All students are expected to follow the Student Code of Conduct, directions

from their teachers and school staff, and will be held accountable for all work.

slide-13
SLIDE 13

100 % Remote Information (Transitioning)

Transition from In-Person to Remote Learning

  • Students can transition from In-Person Learning at any point during the trimester

provided that remote learning is still occurring throughout the district. During the school year, parents/guardians may request that their child transition from in-person learning to remote learning. There may be a transition period of up to 10 days. There may also be a change to the teacher of record if necessary.

  • Parents would need to notify in writing to the building principal that he/she

would like their child to transition to remote learning.

  • The building principal has up to 10 days to accommodate the request. The

building principal must respond in 5 days to the parents request.

slide-14
SLIDE 14

Special Education

constraints of proposed instructional models and supports

  • Individual concerns should be addressed through your child’s case

manager and teacher

  • Child Study Team Evaluations will be conducted
