Review

  • English pronunciation has a distinct rhythm, so that some

sounds are longer and some shorter.

  • One syllable will always be stressed in multi-syllable English

words (‘ferry).

  • Stress on particular words in a sentence stress affects its

meaning (I love you).

  • Pronouncing word endings are very important for meaning.
  • English consonants letters don’t always reflect the sound

they make (ch/s).

  • English vowels can be long, short or combined sounds.
