  5. Goals in 2017:  Engage in Planning and Development processes that respect the natural environment and local character.  This means formal planning processes with local input respected, and environmental laws respected and thoughtfully enforced.

  6. Goals 2017- continued  Engage in local infrastructure improvement projects  Engage in environmental protection/restoration/repair projects  Generate full community participation and “community feeling” in Coral Bay  Continue effective role as Coral Bay’s Watershed Management Agency

  9. Managing Muddy Stormwater Plumes from reaching Coral Bay  NFWF, NOAA & DPNR/EPA Stormwater sediment reduction projects- on several roadways – private and public in Coral Bay  Cooperate with neighborhoods, PW and DPNR  $137,000 grants this year– Double this value!

  10.  Local Restoration Actions to Improve Water Quality  To protect Coral Reef Habitats from Destructive Byproducts of Development

  11. Endangered Species & Marine Habitat in Fringing Coral Reefs, Sea Grass and Mangroves

  12. Landscape Manual  Part of the NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program Grant  Using local vegetation along with structural methods for stabilizing slopes and controlling erosion  Essentially completed  Reviews and comments are welcome

Solid Waste Management Grant  $73k USDA grant to help promote the 4 R’s in Coral Bay (recycle, reduce, repurpose, reuse)  4 components-Residential Composting, Repurposing, “Bring Your Own” Campaign, and a “Plastic Free Day” in Coral Bay  USDA Solid Waste Management Project--Residential Composting, reduced plastics/disposables Outreach - cooperate with WMA, IGLA

  19. Priority for 2017 - Urgent Need MOVE main bin site:Trying since 2010  Solution to overburdened, environmentally dangerous shoreline main solid waste bin site location: move to better site that facilitates reuse and recycling too.  Cooperate with WMA, IGLA, GVI, and private donors/investors.  Pursue goal of “Near Net Zero waste & solar energy for Coral Bay” at common facility (Solar roof over waste collection/recycling activities)

  24. John’s Folly Learning Center Roof Repairs  $3900 of CBCC donations  Completion of John’s Folly Learning Center Roof Repairs begun In 2016

  25. Guy H. Benjamin Community Center  CBCC supports PARTNERSHIPS IN HOPE & Department of Education project to reopen facility for multiple purposes  Will continue to help

  26. “Corner Park”  Wetlands preservation and “Corner Park” - CBCC volunteers (Cooperate with Dept of Agriculture)  New swale and raingarden

  29. Marinas- Elephant in the Room? Major Marinas and Development  Project Proposal Review: Do they meet environmental or community goals? CBCC’s direct role is: 1) encouraging community  participation and 2) developer adherence to  environmental and local concerns; 3) seeking “right-sized  development” that encourages/supports character of community vision and existing successful tourism based economy

  30. Planning for Historic/Culture Center  IDEA: Historic/culture education/museum & tourist welcome center in historic school house - GBCC Building 1  Need people for planning committee – actually get planning done  Govt agencies will to participate  Appropriate entity(ies) to manage?

  31.  Utilize the Historic School Building (rms 1 & 2 of GBS)  as a cultural and historical education center with exhibits serving school children on field trips, local visitors and tourists;  Also use as a “Welcome Center” to connect local entrepreneurs sharing historical/cultural education & goods as their product—and their customers (visitors, resident adults) 

  32. NEW PROJECT IDEA  Boating Access and boating services – with several small docks  Like the AIA plan  For tourists and local use  Appropriate entity(ies) to manage
