The number of tourists to Napa County vary seasonally, • from an average of 3,500/day in December to nearly 20,000/day in June. (Source: Preliminary NCTPA Study)

  9. MANAGING CHANGE WILL BE AN ONGOING CHALLENGE • ABAG projects Napa County will add over 27,000 new residents by 2040. Nearly half may come from outside California. • Growth will bring a need for 5,600 new home and over 12,000 new jobs… • creating new challenges with regards to water availability, loss of farmland, air quality, climate change, and environmental protection. • The majority of Napa residents will be Hispanic or Latino by 2040, requiring new outreach and participation. • The percentage of Napa residents of working age (defined as 25-64) will drop from 53% to 47%. (Sources: BayAreaOne Plan and State Department of Finance)

  10. • The County needs wineries to keep farming profitable and to prevent Napa from being absorbed into the Bay Area metropolitan region. • The Cities need wineries to attract visitors for their growing hospitality industry. • The wineries need the County to manage land use development to ensure that infrastructure is available and to preserve the rural character that brings people here. • The wineries need the Cities for their hospitality industry and to provide workforce housing and services.

  11. THESE ARE NOT COUNTY ISSUES THESE ARE NOT CITY ISSUES THESE ARE NOT INDUSTRY ISSUES THESE ARE COMMUNITY ISSUES
