Mission and Vision Mission: The Iowa Utilities Board regulates utilities to ensure that reasonably priced, reliable, environmentally responsible, and safe utility services are available to all Iowans. Vision: The Iowa Utilities Board is valued as the regulatory expert and solutions-oriented partner in electric, natural gas, and telecommunications issues. 2

  3. Iowa Utilities Board The IUB is a quasi-judicial body that hears evidence in cases filed before it and makes decisions based on the evidence presented. The IUB is required by state statute to make decisions that balance the interests of all parties to ensure the utilities provide adequate and reliable service at reasonable prices. FY 19 Iowa Utilities Board Budget • IUB Authorized Budget – $8.73 million – $1.05 million – (PHMSA grant and civil penalties) Subtotal of $9.78 million • Pass Through – $5.2 million – IA Energy Center & IA Center for Global Environmental Research – $0.73 million – Dual Party Relay Service – $0.55 million – Equipment Distribution Program Subtotal of $6.48 million • Total of $16.26 million for FY19 4

Iowa Utilities Board Budget • Iowa Energy Center (IEC) at IEDA and Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research (CGRER) – 85% to IEC and 15% to CGRER – $4,422,078.13 to IEC and $780,338.70 to CGRER for FY 19 • Dual Party Relay Service – Wireless and wireline telecommunications providers pay 3 cents per Iowa number per month per Iowa Code 477C.7 – Telecommunication providers remit quarterly to IUB, legislative proposal to change time of remittance. 5
