  16. June • Written Baccalaureate Exams take place according to a timetable determined by the Office of the Secretary General • Teachers cannot invigilate their own subject, there must be 2 invigilators for each exam. • No mobile phones allowed and students must write in ink. • Be aware of regulations for use of calculators for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography (TI-Nspire or not)

  17. Marking of written exam papers • There will be 2 correctors. • They cannot write on the copy but must complete the list of marks for each question together with a justification of their overall mark for the exam. These marks are sealed in an envelope and sent with the copies to the central correction centre in Brussels.

  18. Correction centre ( Article 6.3.9 ) • All copies of the Bac exams are sent to Brussels 1 (this year 7500 papers over 4 days) to be corrected by external examiners (sent from countries of origin) • They do not see 1st mark. • If the 2 marks are 2 points different, the copies are marked by a third corrector. • Otherwise the final mark is an arithmetical average of the 2 correctors (2 decimal places)

  19. July • Oral Baccalaureate exams take place according to the timetable determined by the Office of the Secretary General • Examiners are the subject teacher and an external examiner sent from the country of origin • Both give a mark correct to whole or half mark and discuss. The overall mark is the average of these 2 marks.

  20. Organisation of Oral exams • Students are given individual timetables • They should dress smartly to give the right impression • They should arrive 20 minutes before the preparation time.

  21. • They choose an envelope (prepared by teachers – number of candidates plus 5) with the question number on it. • They can refuse the first one but lose 20% of mark automatically • They have 20 minutes supervised preparation time • 20 minutes of the exam (marking scheme according to 2012-01-D-02-en-3 Criteria for assessment of the Baccalaureate oral exams)

  22. July • Conseil de classe for examination board at the end of the last day of oral exams • Discussion of marks for each candidate • This is highly confidential and must not be communicated to students in any form (good, bad, etc) • Baccalaureate results are posted for candidates after this meeting

  23. Proclamation • Proclamation ceremony takes place the next day usually (this will depend on the delay of Brussels 1 sending us the certificates) • S7 and Terminale working on the programme and organisation of the ceremony • Students receive their certificates

  24. Viewing Exam papers • Students and parents may ask to view the exam papers (with total marks of each examiner) up to 5 days after the proclamation • All S7 exam papers must be kept by the school (Exams in January and June/July) for 3 years

  25. Parental Complaints • Parents can only complain if they think there has been a procedural irregularity, not about the results or decisions made by the Conseil de Classe. • For this reason, we must stick to the regulations for conseil de classe • Regular communication must take place between parents and the form teacher
