IBU is… Intensive Behavior Unit

What is the IBU?

  • The IBU is a small, highly-structured, supportive

environment designed to assist students in transitioning back to their home school following hospitalization during the school year. Why is there an IBU?

  • Some students, who receive special education services

and who have been hospitalized, need a setting to help them gradually transition back into the comprehensive high school setting. How do students enter the IBU?

  • The IBU referral form is completed by the home school.

The referral is sent to WHS for review by the IBU staff. An IEP meeting is held at the home school to determine appropriateness.
