Student Expectations

Late Policy

  • Unauthorized late arrival happens when a

student arrives late first thing in the morning or after lunch

  • After 10 unauthorized lates consequences are

applied usually not attending a dance or event

  • After 30 unauthorized late arrivals studnets lose

the opportunity to go Canada’s Wonderland

Progressive Discipline

  • To support our discipline policy we have a

Responsibility Room

  • For students in need of behavioural support we have
  • ur Contact Program. Students are referred to this

program prior to arrival or via an in-school review committee

  • We use a Tier system to apply progressive discipline

and track behaviour

  • Focus is on progressive discipline and restorative

practices that emphasize repair and meaningful consequences

Tier 1

  • First offence of a minor behaviour
  • A period or two in the responsibility room
  • Teacher will call home / reflection sheet signed and returned

Tier 2

  • Second offence of similar behaviour or a behaviour that is significant
  • 3-4 periods in the responsibility room and loss of regular lunch
  • Teacher will call home / reflection sheet signed and returned

Tier 3

  • Second offence of similar behaviour or a behaviour that is significant
  • 5-6 periods in the responsibility room and loss of regular lunch
  • VP or Principal will call home - reflection sheet signed and returned
  • Possible referral via ISRC to the contact program

Progressive Discipline

In-school suspensions

  • Should a significant behaviour take place or consistent

negative behaviour

  • VP or Principal will call home / reflection sheet complete

and signed

Formal Suspensions

  • Behaviours which are identified in the PDSB Code of

Conduct or in violation of the Safe School Act

  • Typically for violent or criminal behaviour
  • Mandatory suspensions exist
  • Suspensions 4 days or longer are referred to the Fresh Start

Lunch

  • Students’ have 60 mins for lunch
  • First 20 min students eat in the gym then go

  • We offer Pizza lunch on Wednesday and Friday

and Subway on Tuesday

  • Students require permission to go home for

lunch - the form is filled out at the beginning

Hallways and Lockers

  • Students must sign-out and have a hall pass

when in the halls during class time

  • Students may go to their locker first thing in

the morning, before and after lunch and at the end of the day

  • Students will share lockers with a partner
  • Valuables are to be stored there or left at

  • -Screen size should be no bigger than 15.6 inches due

to the size of student lockers.

  • A laptop battery capable of lasting a full 6 hours.
  • A good quality laptop case is essential, preferably with

a pocket for the charger.

  • Antivirus: Please do not buy McAfee antivirus as it is

incompatible with our wifi network. For Windows 10 laptops, the built in antivirus and firewall is quite good and sufficient. There are also free options for Mac laptops.

  • - MS Office: All students will receive the latest version
  • f MS Office at no cost.
