  2. Hyper-Connected Haptics technology for visually impaired in Human-Machine Collaboration Objectives: • Investigates intervention to improve the accessibility of Internet among the VI people in the five states in Malaysia through the adoption of haptic and audio feedback system (an AT) in Internet Browsing. • Explore the awareness, knowledge, use, and barriers of adoption of ATs and Internet. • Focused on the applicability and accessibility of haptic and audio feedback on online shopping with 3D virtual objects – JomJe website.

  3. Hyper-Connected Haptics technology for visually impaired in Human-Machine Collaboration Deliverables: Clockwise from Top: Representation of field tested haptic-audio based interactive virtual environment; single point haptic stylus operating on open-source H3D; prototype of force feedback haptic glove; draft of released Internet Habits Survey

  4. Hyper-Connected Haptics technology for visually impaired in Human-Machine Collaboration Findings: • Survey results demonstrated that (69.6%) users found the website was convenient and (79.1%) are willing to use it for a long term. • Further development of multi-point haptics may improve usability of website. • Additional senses (odour) can be added to improve accessibility. Conclusion: • Based upon collected data from Internet Habits Survey, address inadequacies in accessibilities for often used online VI applications • Continue progress in development of haptic applications online, as well as exploring economical options in mass distributable haptic equipment
