Drama tips

Freeze frame

  • Plan facial expressions, gesture, sight-lines etc, before standing up
  • Imagine what characters might saying or thinking as you create the ff
  • Ff very useful for larger groups and action scenes (consider a 3ff

sequence to convey action) Mime

  • As above, but consider how sight-lines alter during the scene
  • Mime very useful for scenes that feature a dramatic change
  • Best for individual or pair scenes

Paired improvisation

  • Only twos!
  • Give first line to each
  • Give an ending to aim for
  • Remind them about facial expressions, gesture, sight-lines etc
